Residents of 10 suburbs in Melbourne’s southeast are being urged to be on high alert for signs of COVID-19 after fragments of the virus were detected in wastewater.
On Thursday, the health department confirmed the fragments were recently detected in wastewater samples taken from a sewage catchment.
Anyone with even mild COVID-19 symptoms is urged to get tested.
This especially includes people who live in or have visited the suburbs from April 4 to 6.
The areas are:
- Clayton South
- Dingley Village
- Glen Waverley
- Mount Waverley
- Notting Hill
- Springvale South
- Wheelers Hill
The fragments may be due to a person with COVID-19 being in the early active infectious phase or it could be because someone is continuing to shed the virus…
